This unit seeks to empower early Boston’s marginalized narratives and voices through multimedia platforms that look at key Early Black Boston figures and movements. These lessons facilitate research by giving students the opportunity to engage with different perspectives, people, and places and develop some sort of “stance” on them. In doing so, students develop an understanding of the power their own narratives and ancestral histories hold.
